The Members of the
Curriculum Implementation Committee
set a Mission Statement at the May 19, 1999 meeting.

The Mission of the Curriculum Implementation Committee is to set the curriculum implementation initiatives in Vancouver Island West School District 84, and to provide support to educators in the achievement of curriculum goals.

In the pursuit of the Mission the Committee will have the following goals:

·   advocate for improving student learning;

·   identification of curriculum tools for schools and the District, a recent example being
    SuccessMaker;

·   assessing curriculum strategies appropriated for student needs within the District;

·   initiating and organizing in-service projects;

·   catalyst for a vision for educational change;

·   financial and resource support for curriculum implementation;

·   support linked to new initiatives identified in IRP documents;

·   clearinghouse for curriculum resources, strategies, web sites and activities;

·   support to new teachers and reassigned teachers;

·   encouragement of new curriculum orientations;

·   recommendation of learning resources;

·   improving communication on all curriculum matters.
