Committees and Other Duties

Teachers have the opportunity to represent ZESS in a number of areas.  The amount of work for each position varies but all entail attending training and annual or biannual meetings.  These are volunteer positions.

 

School Union Representative

·    represent Vancouver Island West Teachers’ Union members in ZESS (teachers)

Housing Committee Representative

·    represent tenants of teacherages - problems, monitor teacherage work requests for building and maintenance

Occupational Health and Safety Representative

·    through guidance by the District OH&S Committee, ensures Workers’ Compensation Board safety standards applied at ZESS

·    monthly inspections, monthly meetings, investigations when necessary, required paperwork

Professional Development Representative

·    represent teaching staff by presenting Pro-D options, receive teachers’ Pro-D $ claims

Curriculum Implementation and Learning Resources Committee Representative

·    represent school staff in determining funding at each school in the District for  new projects or materials not in the mainstream

District Technology Committee Representative

·    trouble shoot computer problems, liaison between staff and District Computer Technician
